Variability of Ambulatory Arterial Stiffness Index from Seven Day/24 h Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring in Healthy Subjects and in Patients with Coronary Heart Disease

| Description | High blood pressure is an important risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. Blood pressure values change continuously over time as a result of the interaction between environmental factors and behavioral factors on one side and regulatory mechanisms on the other side. We in Brno, Masaryk University started to study the blood pressure, blood pressure control and blood pressure variability in the Dept. of Physiology in humans and animals from sixties from the last century and from eighties we started to cooperate with prof. Franz Halberg and Prof. Germaine Cornelissen from Halberg chronobiology center, University of Minnesota, USA. Chronobiology, studied by prof. Franz Halberg showed broad spectrum of rhythms in us and around us and also in blood pressure. We participated on a lot of international projects and in the year 1991 started the international project BIOCOS (Biosphere and the Cosmos) under the director prof. Germaine Cornelissen and it continues until now. The blood pressure variability was also analyzed using ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, in Czech Republic we are the second working place, were we used it and we analyzed, also with Halberg Chronobiology center not only 24-hour blood pressure measurement, but also seven-day/24-h ambulatory BP measurement and described blood pressure variability in seven-day measurement. (1-5). Our results sowed large BP variability in seven day blood pressure measurement in systolic and diastolic blood pressure during the day time and night time in every subject, in healthy subjects, in patients with hypertension, in patients with ischemic heart diseases and also in biabies born prematurely and the results from measurements were evaluated in Masaryk university and also in Minnesota University, Halberg Chronobiology center. |
