Fibroblasts in Mammary Morphogenesis and Tumors
The Mechanisms of Epithelial Morphogenesis group led by Dr. Zuzana Sumbalova Koledova studies fundamental mechanisms of epithelial morphogenesis, homeostasis, and tumorigenesis, including paracrine and mechanosignaling. We are particularly interested in the role of fibroblasts in regulation of epithelial processes. We use a wide variety of approaches, including in vitro techniques using organoids, in vivo mouse models and in silico computational modeling. We actively collaborate with scientists within the European Network of Breast Development and Cancer as well as beyond.
We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral researchers with experience in 1) developmental or cancer biology, or 2) bioinformatics to study the functional implications of fibroblast heterogeneity in developing mammary gland and in mammary tumors. Project implementation will involve mouse models as well as clinical samples, organoids, single-cell RNA sequencing and bioinformatic analysis of the transcriptomic data (training available).
