Centrum jazykového vzdělávání MU během prosince a ledna otevírá krátkodobé kurzy a semináře zaměřené na psaní projektů, revize textů, online vzdělávání a debatování v cizím jazyce. Vše zdarma a uzpůsobeno doktorským studentům! MU Language Centre currently offers multiple short-term courses and seminars for university staff. You can join sessions focused on project management and project writing, online teaching and technologies, how to approach revision or science debate. Science Debate Club (starts 3 December, continues in 4 sessions)

Would you like to communicate your science research/paper better? Let’s practice in Science Debate Club! The course will use science texts or texts with scientific topics to develop students' communication skills.

Tips for effective project writing I (3 December, another session on 19 January)

English writing course specifically aimed at doctoral students of all fields. The course will introduce essentials of academic writing that can be effectively adopted in writing project and grant proposals. Focus: linking expressions, explaining clause, effect and significance, discourse markers and more.

Writing Gab #5: How to revise your paper – whether you have a week, or 5 minutes (4 December, 10:30-11:30 via Zoom)

We’ve all been there: You’ve written a paper – or, you’ve written something, anyway – and now you’re staring at the screen, and you’re stuck. Maybe you know there’s something missing, or something that’s still not perfect – but you don’t know what, exactly, and you don’t know how to find out. Or, maybe you think your paper is perfect! But you remember you thought that same way LAST time… Abbie and Joe are here again with their Writing Gab tips and tricks, this time about revision. Join the discussion to help others!

ICT in Education Studio (Still available but register ASAP!)

Dynamic course focused on online education, current ICT needs and issues in educational settings. The studio is aimed at current or future teachers of secondary or higher education. Primary teachers and future primary teachers are welcome to join as well.

Improve your Academic Writing (11 December; can continue with The Transition to Project Writing on 15 January)

In this session, the focus will be on improving your general standard of academic writing. This will include information on the important components of academic writing, appropriate academic style, use of formal vocabulary and passive voice, appropriate linking words and signposting, effective use of sentences and paragraphs including their proper structure in academic writing and more.

Submit projects that are easy to manage! (14 January)

Learn how to write a brilliant project, how to define its goals and address risks under the leadership of certified project managers!

Recommendation – Writing Lab (available anytime)

Writing Lab is a project created under the MU Language Centre focused on helping students and academics with improving their English writing. Abbie and Joe, creators of Writing Lab, can help you with employment and graduate school applications, CVs, or any other personal and public writing, oral presentations, multimedia projects, email, blog, or work of fiction.
