Popis | To ascertain the involvement of 5-HT2 receptor subtype in rewarding properties of methamphetamine (METH), non-selective 5-HT2 agonist alpha-methyl-5-hydroxytryptamine was tested for its ability to influence METH "i.v. self-administration" in rats. From our results, 5-HT2 receptor activation slightly attenuated METH self-administration. This ability can be hypothetically mediated via supression of either "craving" or sensitization mechanisms. |
