Popis In the present study, modulation of the reinforcing effects of methamphetamine by the non-selective 5-HT2 receptor agonist alpha-methyl-serotonin was ascertained using the method of i.v. self-administration in rats. In summary, our findings suggest that 5-HT2 receptor activation might attenuate methamphetamine self-administration. These results are in accordance with the findings of Munzar et al. (1999) indicating that 5-HT mediation of discriminative stimulus actions of methamphetamine appears to be involved to a big extent in stimulation at 5-HT2A/2C receptors.
