The first clinical experience with the Prestige cervical disc prosthesis

| Popis | Fusion following anterior cervical discectomy has been implicated in the acceleration of degenerative changes in the adjacent spinal segments in 92% of the cases with clicical nafifestations in 25,6% of the patients within 10 years. The implantation of cervical disc prosthesis may help to prevent this problem. We describe our preliminary experience with implantation of the Prestige cervical disc system (Medtronic, Sofamor Danek) in six cases of single-level cervical disc herniation. The implantation of Prestige prosthesis is easy. The short-term effect of this type artificial disc replacement is satisfactory. |
