Dear PhD Candidates,
It is my great pleasure to welcome you, both our new and continuing PhD candidates, to the new academic year and to our PhD School community. Beginning or continuing your PhD journey is both a challenge and a privilege – a time to push the boundaries of knowledge, develop your research independence, and shape your future career. As Vice-Dean for PhD Studies, I want to assure you that you are not alone on this path: our faculty, supervisors, and support services are here to guide and encourage you throughout this important stage of your academic and professional development.
In addition to your individual research projects, I warmly invite you to take part in our upcoming events and courses designed to enrich your experience and broaden your horizons. Among them are the Life Science Transfer Academy, where you can explore how to translate your research into practice, and our PhD Day, an excellent opportunity to connect with fellow doctoral candidates, share ideas, and discover new collaborations. I strongly encourage you to seize these opportunities, engage actively with your peers, and make the most of the vibrant intellectual environment we are building together.

Consider applying for the MUNI Mendel Doctorandus programme!
The programme is designed for outstanding students who want to push the set standards even higher during their doctoral studies at MUNI, through the completion of interdisciplinary lectures, a mentoring programme and other developmental activities preparing them for their future career. Students are offered the possibility of an extended three-month internship abroad, thus opening a path to the European Doctorate or MMD International Certificate.

Register for the Life Sciences Seminar Series: Join other PhD and MSc students for interesting interdisciplinary lectures led by renowned scientists who will share their knowledge with Masaryk University students! The seminar series is mainly focused on currently growing fields which combine modern methods of biophysics, computational modelling, imaging, biochemistry and molecular biology with "more classical" disciplines such as microbiology, cell biology, physiology, genetics, toxicology, developmental and evolutionary biology and medicine. The seminar is held in English.
