Undertaking a PhD is no small feat. It is a journey that demands perseverance, creativity, and a constant curiosity to push the boundaries of knowledge. Each of you is contributing to a legacy of innovation and scholarly achievement that has the power to shape the future in profound ways.
I want you to know that our institution is committed to supporting you in every step of this journey. Lecture of Prof. Robert A. Harris
Prof. Robert A. Harris, an esteemed expert in immunotherapy for neurological diseases, will discuss research on the microglial niche's role in neurodegeneration and innovative therapeutic strategies aimed at transforming experimental models into clinical applications for human medicine.. He leads the Applied Immunology research group at the Karolinska Institutet, focusing on the pathogenesis of incurable diseases like Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer's, ALS, and Glioblastoma.

Sip of Science
Seminar series, organized by the Postdoc and Ph.D. Committees at CEITEC MU takes place bi-weekly in the E35 atrium at CEITEC MU, beginning at 3:30 pm.
Each session includes a 20-minute TED talk-like presentation delivered by postdoctoral researchers and (senior) Ph.D. students representing scientific groups and core facilities from CEITEC MU. The presentation is followed by a 10-minute discussion.
The event concludes with networking opportunities in a relaxed environment, complemented by pizza and drinks.

- Academic Communication and Writing for Researchers: informal afternoon discussions with native speaker will help you develop as a researcher with strong English communication skills. You'll explore "tricks of the trade" and critically review recent high-impact journal articles. No tests or essays required, just meet, discuss, speak and network. Please register here.
- Creation and use of the OSCE: introduction to the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE), an innovative method for assessing knowledge in medical and healthcare education. It covers the theoretical framework, methodological background, and practical steps for OSCE preparation and implementation, using real examples. Please register here.
- Collaborative learning with a virtual patient: introduction to collaborative learning methods, focusing on content preparation and lesson facilitation. Participants gain a theoretical foundation to enhance the courses with elements fostering clinical reasoning skills, using virtual case studies within the framework of personalized medicine. The Learned Society of the Czech Republic is pleased to launch the second annual Jiřina Michlová Award for doctoral students, recognizing outstanding original scientific work.
The application deadline is January 31, 2025.

Out of 25 awarded students from 9 different institutes in Brno, 6 students from the Faculty of Medicine received the Brno PhD Talent award. The students received a scholarship in the amount of 120 000 CZK per year for three years. Congratulations to all awarded students!

Take the opportunity to inspire high school students by guiding them through their Secondary Professional Activity Theses (SPAT) at MED MUNI. Your involvement can count as a teaching contribution (subject to your supervisor's approval) and is an excellent chance to share your expertise.
