The first international Evidence-Based Clinical Fellowship Programme (EBCFP) for Nurses and/or Physicians

We are happy to deliver another international JBI Evidence-Based Clinical Fellowship Program (EBCFP) Training. This time for Nurses and Physicians and due to COVID-19 online via the ZOOM platform.

4 Feb 2021

The training with new 12 participants from different countries (4 from the Czech Republic, 2 from Spain, 2 from Portugal, 2 from Romania, and 2 from the U.K.) is focused on implementing the best available scientific evidence into healthcare practice.

This week, participants started to work on the implementation project after choosing the topic and suggested specific changes they would like to provide in their workplace.

For example, some of the aims of the chosen projects are:

  • reduce stress urinary incontinence during and following childbirth
  • implement strategies to support breastfeeding in a neonatal ward
  • improve the communication of nurses in the healthcare team of a Continuous care unit

The Evidence-based Clinical Fellowship Programme includes the Clinical Leadership Workshop, a dynamic and interactive workshop.

To decrease the gap between research and practice, participants will learn how to:

  • Became a successful leader and act as an agent for change
  • Implement the best available evidence according to current approaches
  • Conduct baseline and follow-up clinical audit
  • Use the clinical software PACES for their clinical audit and GRiP process (“Getting Research into Practice” process) and software JBI POOL.
  • Choose the best implementation strategy
  • Provide their own Best Practice Implementation project
  • Cooperate and exchange the know-how within the JBI

After six months, another 12 projects will be delivered to change the healthcare practice in participants' workplaces through clinical leadership processes. At the end of the program, participants have a report ready to be published in a peer-reviewed journal and accessible in international medical databases.

Despite all the obstacles of the Covid-19 pandemic, we believe that all participants will succeed in completing their projects. We wish you all good luck and thank you for the attendance! Special thank you for leading this international program to Jitka Klugarová and to project colleagues from UK, Spain, Portugal and Romania for the great cooperation.
