European Paediatric Advanced Life Support (EPALS) in English

The EPALS course is a European Resuscitation Council (ERC) certified course and is intended for all healthcare professionals who can be expected to be involved in the care of a critically ill child in the first 30-60 minutes (newborn, infant, older child), either in hospital or in pre-hospital care. The aim of the course is to equip participants with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to care for a child with respiratory or circulatory failure due to various causes, and to prevent the progression of a critical condition to cardiac arrest. The teaching emphasizes teamwork skills in resuscitation teamwork and leadership, communication and cooperation among health care professionals.

The most frequent participants of the course are physicians of all specialties, especially emergency medicine, anaesthesiology and intensive care physicians, as well as paramedics and nurses working in intensive care or resuscitation units, operating theatres, hospital emergency rooms or ambulance services.
