The course brought together 8 doctors from all parts of the Czech Republic. The lecturers of the course were doc. MUDr. Martina Kosinová Ph.D., MUDr. Jana Djakow Ph.D., doc. MUDr. Jozef Klučka Ph.D., and MUDr. Václav Vafek.

Traditionally, we started the course with an introduction to the Simulation Centre. Then, the participants were introduced to modern ultrasound simulators allowing them to practice examinations and possible interventions in a safe environment. In the morning programme, participants practiced basic skills related to the use of ultrasound, specifically practicing hand-needle coordination during cannulation, basics in chest ultrasound examination, vascular cannulation and the use of the most common examination protocols. To make the course as practical as possible, in addition to the simulators, there were child actors available throughout the day.

After the lunch break, several unique high-fidelity simulations were prepared for the afternoon programme, which included the use of ultrasound examination. In addition to the simulations, attendees had the opportunity to try out training on paediatric actors of various ages and sizes.

The Basic School of Ultrasound in Children is unique in the Czech Republic in its involvement of high-fidelity simulations, so the feedback given to the participants after the event was very important to the event organizers for the continuation of the course.

If you like the course, keep an eye on the SIMU website; we are preparing the next course for spring 2023.
