We started by introducing the lecturing team – the course guarantor was MUDr. Jan Maláska, Ph.D., EDIC, together with him the lecturing team consisted of MUDr. Milan Kratochvíl, EDIC, MUDr. Jan Stašek, EDIC and MUDr. Marek Kovář. The organizers of the course were the Head of the Institute of Simulation Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. MUDr. Petr Štourač, Ph.D., MBA, FESAIC and the Department Vice-Head doc. MUDr. Martina Kosinová, Ph.D., who also presented the whole project of the Faculty of Medicine Simulation Centre, its activities and the building itself.

The introduction of the course was devoted to a detailed introduction to the environment of the intensive care unit, the available equipment and the simulators themselves, which is absolutely essential for orientation in simulation medicine. We shall keep specific scenarios focusing on complex situations from the intensive care environment shrouded in a veil of mystery for future course participants, but the spectrum is varied; through intensive care unit care, concierge care, to patient handover and transport. Refreshments during the challenging programme were provided by practical hands-on workshops, focusing on the difficulty of securing the airway, advanced ventilator set-up in patients with severe oxygenation and ventilation disorders and the use of bedside ultrasound.

On behalf of the organisers, we were delighted with the interest in the course, which was fully booked with international participation. In the final evaluation of the course, a slight fatigue was evident in all participants after a demanding and energy-packed programme. Our joy was mainly their maximum satisfaction. In conclusion, it remains to thank the impeccable technical support by a comprehensive team of technicians and administrative support, without which not only this re-enactment but also all simulations would not be possible. We look forward to seeing you at future courses!
