Individual Project

An obligatory part of the curriculum of students enrolled in the General Medicine  or Dentistry programme is the completion of a as part of a course title Individual Project.

An individual project may take one of the following shapes:

a) Gathering of literature on an assigned topic and processing the data in the form of a literature review;

or

b) Processing assigned data by statistical methods, evaluating the results, formulating conclusions, and presentating them in the form of a publication or a PowerPoint presentation;

or

c) Conducting an experiment on an assigned topic, evaluating the experiment, formulating conclusions and presenting them in the form of a publication or a PowerPoint presentation.

The course is completed  and credits for it are granted when the project has been submitted to project supervisor and defended.

The student must take the Individual Project course once during their studies, in the fifth semester of the study at the earliest. The course is worth with five credits.

Every year, the institutes and departments of MED MUNI announce in IS MU a list of project topics that students may choose from. The topics are announced in the Individual Project (Samostatná práce) packet in IS MUNI, the link Studies, click on Lists of Students, then click on Browse Packages of Topics/Variants. The name of the project supervisor is indicated in the list of projects.

Registration procedure

Before working on an individual project, the students are advised to complete an elective information seminar called Acquisition and Use of Technical Information. The terms of the seminar will be announced in connection with the information on course timetables.
