MED MUNI’s research activities cover practically the entire spectrum of biomedicine, from basic medical research to clinical medicine. We focus in particular on using innovative diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical procedures. In addition to close links with clinical hospital departments, this goal is further advanced by our own state-of-the-art infrastructure, which includes the following: the CREATIC Centre of Excellence, CZECRIN – the Czech National Node of the European Network of Clinical Research Infrastructures, the Laboratory Animal Breeding and Experimental Facility, and the Medicinal Herbs Centre.

We cooperate closely with internal and external partners within the Brno research ecosystem – the Faculty of Science of Masaryk University, CEITEC MU, University Hospital Brno, St. Anne’s University Hospital, the International Clinical Research Center (ICRC), the Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute, the Czech Academy of Sciences, and others. We also cooperate with many international institutions and organizations on research and doctoral studies.
Our researchers’ findings are regularly published in prestigious international journals (e.g., Cancer Cell, Leukemia, Lancet Haematology, Molecular Cell, Bone, Stem Cells, Stroke).
MED MUNI’s strategic priorities in the field of science and research are supporting junior researchers and student research activities and incorporating international scientists into our research teams.
We are recipients of the HR Excellence in Research Award and members of the international organizations Orpheus and Spark Global.
