After Acceptance
1. Payment Information
The payment deadline is always stated on the invoice issued together with the admission documents. Please make sure to complete the payment by the specified deadline to accept and secure the seat.
The tuition fee can be paid in 2 instalments, separately per each semester.
Masaryk University’s account is held in Czech currency (CZK). When paying directly from a foreign-currency account, the final amount received by the University may differ from the invoiced amount due to exchange-rate fluctuations and bank fees.
To avoid underpayments or overpayments caused by currency exchange rates and bank charges, we recommend using the Convera payment platform.
Using Convera allows you to make the payment in your preferred currency while ensuring that the correct amount in CZK is transferred to the University.
2. Verification of Secondary Education
Verification of the international secondary education is a compulsory part of the admission process.
All newly admitted students who completed their secondary education outside the Czech Republic must provide the required documents so that their previous education can be verified.
The verification of secondary education:
- is regulated by Masaryk University Directive No. 2/2019
- for general information describing the procedure and required documents, click here
- detailed instructions are provided to applicants after passing the entrance exam

3. Visa
Students from EU countries
If you come from an EU member country (or Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Switzerland), you are exempt from student visa requirements. You are not required to have any additional medical insurance, but we highly recommend arranging one.
Students from countries outside the EU
If you wish to enrol at Masaryk University, you must apply for a long-term visa (recommended) or residence permit for the purpose of studies. You have to file your application at the Embassy or Consulate General of the Czech Republic abroad, usually in your country of citizenship. Applications cannot be filed in the Czech Republic.
Please be advised that the application process for a long-term visa or residence permit for the purpose of studies can take up to 60 days.
Student Mode
To simplify the visa process for students from selected countries who have been accepted to study at universities in the Czech Republic, in 2017 the Student Mode was set up. Students will be automatically placed after successfully passing the entrance exams to Masaryk University into an application for placing in the Student Mode. Placing of an applicant on the list of the Student Mode does not guarantee a positive response to the visa application. If during the specified interview the student does not submit all the required documents they will automatically be removed from the Student Mode. For further information please contact viza@czs.muni.cz.

6. Dean’s Merit Scholarship
Excellence deserves to be rewarded.
At the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University, we recognise students who consistently achieve outstanding academic results. Our Dean’s Merit Scholarship gives high-achieving students the opportunity to reduce their tuition fees by 50% for the following semester.
The scholarship is designed to motivate students to strive for academic excellence throughout their studies and to recognise their exceptional commitment and performance.
Who can apply?
The Dean’s Merit Scholarship is available to students enrolled in an English-taught degree programme at the Faculty of Medicine who:
- have successfully completed the requirements for enrolment in the third or a higher semester;
- have fulfilled all study requirements prescribed by their study plan for the semester being assessed;
- have achieved a cumulative grade average of 1.0 across all completed courses in their current studies;
- have not received an F, -, N or X grade in any course, including courses for which an exception to the obligation to repeat the course has been granted;
- have obtained no more than one third of their total credits through recognition from previous or concurrent studies or from a previous unsuccessful study programme; and
- have no outstanding financial obligations towards the Faculty of Medicine.
What does the scholarship cover?
Students who meet all the requirements may be awarded a scholarship corresponding to 50% of the tuition fee for the following semester.
The scholarship is deducted directly from the tuition fee. It is not paid to the student in cash and cannot be transferred to a subsequent semester.
How often is the scholarship awarded?
Eligibility is assessed separately for each semester. Receiving the scholarship in one semester does not automatically guarantee the scholarship for the following semester. Students must continue to meet all the requirements to be considered again.
The fulfilment of the eligibility criteria is verified by the International Office of the Faculty of Medicine using data recorded in the Masaryk University Information System. The final decision on awarding the scholarship is made by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine.
For full details, including all eligibility requirements and the scholarship conditions, please refer to the Scholarship Regulations of the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University.
