Professor Ivan Rektor, emeritus vice-rector of Masaryk University, long-serving head of the First Neurology Clinic at St Anne’s University Hospital and the MU Faculty of Medicine, and one of the most respected Czech neurologists of his generation, has died at the age of 77.
Masaryk University organises a ceremonial presentation of appointment decrees to new associate professors twice a year. In June, experts who had successfully completed their habilitation at seven faculties of Masaryk University received their decrees in the refectory of the Augustinian Abbey.
MU has reached a significant milestone in the construction of one of its largest investment projects. Masaryk University’s BioPharma Hub, a state-of-the-art educational facility, has received final approval for occupancy, which means that students, academics and researchers will soon be able to move into the building.
Masaryk University plans to operate with a total budget of CZK 14.6 billion in 2026, an increase of approximately CZK 900 million on last year.
Appointment decrees were presented to 91 new professors and associate professors by the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, on 1 June in the Great Hall of the Karolinum.
