The prize has been awarded since 2009 and since 2015 at two-year intervals to healthcare professionals who have made a significant contribution to the development of healthcare education in two categories: medical and non-medical health professions.

"Let me thank you for the Aeskuplap Academy Award, which I received for the outstanding project of the SIMU Centre of the Faculty of Medicine of the Medical Faculty of MU, it is for me and especially for my team an appreciation of the systematic work we have done over the last 9 years. And it is an award that does not come every day. For me personally and for the field of anaesthesiology and simulation medicine, it is in a way binding and is something that will push us to higher standards and goals in the future," says Petr Štourač about receiving the award, which has contributed to the education of future doctors and to improving the quality of care provided to patients.

The SIMU building is the most modern simulation centre in Europe, covering 8,000 square metres, including emergency reception, operating theatres, delivery room, intensive care units, standard rooms and rooms for teaching virtual 3D simulations. Students are exposed to a full range of simulation medicine methods from computer simulations to advanced patient simulators for babies, children, adults and seniors. One floor with 70 advanced simulators is dedicated to teaching dentistry. The center serves not only general medicine and dental students. For a dental student, training is important because they can open their own practice right after graduation. Non-medical medical study programmes, such as dental hygienist, general nurse or paramedic, also have a part here. However, courses are also prepared for medical practitioners.
