Almost 70 applicants from all over the world applied for two postdoctoral positions offered at the Faculty of Medicine. The best applicants selected by the faculty committee will go to the research groups of Dr. Jan Krivanek and Dr. Pavel Krejci.
The Internal Grant Agency of FM MU launched a call for two two-year postdoctoral positions in November 2021. In total, nine group leaders applied for the competition: three from the Department of Biology, four from the Department of Histology and Embryology and two from the Department of Pathological Physiology. Their research topics were then advertised on Czech and foreign websites (e.g. Euraxess, Science careers, FindAPostdoc.com).
In two months, 68 candidates applied. 19 of them met the formal requirements and 6 were invited to the second round - an online interview with the selection committee. As a result, two best candidates accepted the offer: Dr Manal Farea from Kobe Gakuin University, Japan, who will come to bolster the research group of Dr Jan Krivanek, and Dr Gustavo Rico from Andalusian Centre of Biomedicine and Nanotechnology, Malaga, Spain, who will enrich the research group of Dr Pavel Krejci.

On Monday, 11 March, Brain Week, an event that focuses on brain research and neuroscience, started. For the first time, the Faculty of Medicine and the University Hospital in Brno joined the event in cooperation.
Just like last year, the last Saturday in February belonged to MJUNI - Masaryk Junior University. And just like last year, the Faculty of Medicine joined forces with the Faculty of Pharmacy, thanks to which the participants had a choice of thirteen programmes.
