In April and May 2023, the Internal Grant Agency (InGA) of FM MU selected two excellent candidates for the postdoc position and found the best candidate to lead the new junior research group
In November 2022, InGA announced the Postdoc call and for the first time also the Junior Research Group call.
The Postdoc call was announced for the second time with the same goal - to attract two experienced and productive junior researchers with significant international experience and integrate them into the already established research groups at FM MU. The financial support amounts to 972.000,- CZK/year and lasts for 24 months.
As in the previous call, a total of 9 FM MU research groups entered this competition. Their research topics were then advertised on Czech and foreign websites (e.g. Euraxess, FindAPostdoc.com, etc.).
In two months, 97 candidates applied. 33 of them met the formal requirements and 4 were invited to the second round for online interviews with the committee.
The interviews brought top two candidates based on the scores of the committee members: Daniel Wojtas, Ph.D. from the Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Science of Polish Academy of Sciences in Krakow will come to strengthen the research group of prof. Monika Pavkova Goldbergova and Maryam Azam from the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB) in Lahore, Pakistan, will enhance the research group of assoc. prof. Jan Krivanek. The aim of the Junior Research Group call is to create conditions for new outstanding junior researchers to establish their own research group at FM MU. This form of support is primarily intended for junior researchers with significant international experience. The maximum amount of support for 1 group is 2 million EUR. CZK/year with a project duration of 3 years.
The Department of Pharmacology, the Department of Anatomy, the First Department of Neurology of St. Anne´s Faculty Hospital and the Department of Pulmonary Diseases and Tuberculosis of the University Hospital Brno expressed interest in establishing a new junior research group. After the advertisements were published, a total of 6 candidates applied for this position, of which only 3 met the formal requirements and advanced to the second round for personal interviews with the committee. In May 2023, Alemeh Zamani, Ph.D. was evaluated by the committee as the best candidate and will establish the Alemeh Zamani Research Group: Choroid Plexus in Diseases at the Department of Anatomy.
