Description Severe hyperthermia is accompanied by impaired thermoregulation and systemic inflammatory response (SIRS), which leads to multi-organ involvement and often to death. Symptoms include temperature 40 C and impaired consciousness, sweating in the elderly often lacking. Diagnosis is based on history and physical examination.
