Description Anatomy can be rightfully considered as one of the cornerstones of physiotherapy. In particular, excellent knowledge of the musculoskeletal system, focusing on the functionality of individual muscle groups is essential for a good physiotherapist. To write a textbook for physiotherapists, we tried to achieve a balance between complexity and simplicity of the text. We therefore sought a balanced presentation of facts without unnecessary details. Students can find in the textbook all information they will need during their studies and in their clinical practice. Anatomy of the human body does not change, but knowledges of the anatomy and their clinical importance are changing. Our goal was to write a publication to match current requirements of medical practice. Submitted textbook is the first part of a two-part anatomical publications designed for students of physiotherapy at the Medical Faculty of Masaryk University.
