Description	A survey of new synthetic methods suitable for the preparation of katena-fluoropolyphosphate anions is presented. By contrast to earlier procedures, based on nucleophilic degradation of suitable substrates by fluoride anions and giving mostly a mixture of different fluoropolyphos- phates, the recent synthesis are highly specific and yields a distinct anion.In this respect, the most succesful are the solvolytic reactions of P-Cl or P-O-P bridge bonds with diphosphoryl tetrafluoride or trimet- hylsilyl difluorophosphate.
