| Description | Immunomodulators of bacterial origin became a part of treatment of patients with frequent respiratory tract infections. They are prescribed namely by specialists in allergology and clinical immunology, ENT medicine and by general practitioners. While some physicians, both in the Czech republic and also abroad, non-critically support the use of bacterial immunomodulators, others reject this therapeutic approach. Recently several good quality clinical trials were published showing the efficacy of immunomodulators of bacterial origin in patients with frequent respiratory tract infections and in chronic bronchitis. Unfortunately, there are no available data about possible long-term adverse effects. |
