Mendel Genetics Conference: Registration Is Open

Registration has opened for the Mendel Genetics Conference, a conference commemorating the bicentennial of the birth of the father of genetics, Gregor Johann Mendel.

This year we celebrate the bicentennial of the birth of the father of genetics, discoverer of the basic laws of heredity, and abbot of the Augustinian monastery in Brno, Gregor Johann Mendel. To pay tribute to this pre-eminent scientist of the 19th century, Mendel Genetics Conference will take place between 20–23 July, 2022, in Brno, the city where Mendel spent a substantial part of his life, and where he laid the foundations of genetics.

You can look forward to renowned speakers from all over the world, such as Prof. Sir Paul Nurse, Prof. Thomas R. Cech, PhD. and Prof. Ada E. Yonath, among many others. In their lectures, they will present topics ranging from the history of genetics starting with G.J. Mendel, to the genetics of humans, animals, plants, and microorganisms, to issues of ethics in genetics and the perception of genetics by societies. New technologies in genetic research will also be discussed. One of the organizers of the event is Masaryk University headed by the Vice-Rector for Research and Doctoral Studies Prof. RNDr. Šárka Pospíšilová, Ph.D.
