Two habilitation procedures were discussed at this year's second meeting of the MU Faculty of Medicine Scientific Council.
On 21 March 2024, the second meeting of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Medicine took place this year. Dean Martin Repko took the opportunity to thank the present Minister of Health of the Czech Republic and Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Czech Republic, Prof. Vlastimil Valko, M.D., CSc., MBA, EBIR, for his long and excellent work as the Head of the Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine of the Medical Faculty of MU and the University Hospital Brno. Furthermore, two habilitation proceedings were discussed at the meeting:
1. proposal for the appointment of MUDr. Jiří Fiedler, PhD, Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the Department of Neurosurgery of the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty Hospital Brno and Head of the Neurosurgery Department of the České Budějovice Hospital, as Associate Professor in Surgery. The Chairman of the Habilitation Committee, Prof. Radim Jančálek, M.D., Ph.D., MBA presented the proposal. The candidate presented a lecture on "Microsurgical brain revascularization in failure of standard therapy of acute stroke" to the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Medicine of MU members.
2. proposal for the appointment of Jan Malásky, MD, PhD, EDIC, assistant professor at the Department of Paediatric Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation at the Faculty of Medicine, Medical University of Brno and assistant professor at the Institute of Simulation Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, Medical University of Brno, associate professor in the field of Anaesthesiology, Intensive Care Medicine and Algesiology. The proposal was presented by the Chairman of the Habilitation Committee, Prof. MUDr. Karel Cvachovec, CSc., MBA. The candidate presented a lecture on "Sepsis, circulatory failure and ARDS - epidemiology, prediction and therapeutic options" to the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Medicine of MU members
The MU Faculty of Medicine Scientific Council proposed to appoint Jiří Fiedler, MD, PhD, Associate Professor in Surgery and Jan Maláska, MD, PhD, EDIC, Associate Professor in Anaesthesiology, Intensive Care Medicine and Algesiology. Both proposals will be submitted to the Rector of Masaryk University.
The next attendance meeting of the LF SC will take place on 23 May 2024.
Every year, over sixty students come to Brno hospitals for exchange internships under the auspices of the IFMSA student organisation. They take home not only valuable work experience.
