FAQs from the online meet

During our virtual meet, we have received additional questions on the discussed topics. Here you will find their list and answers.

"Hello, is it possible to combine grants? For example, if I successfully get the IGA this year, can I apply for another grant / specific research, etc. next year? Thank you."

Hello, IGA grants are for one year only so that you can apply for a specific research grant next year without restriction. If you would like to apply for two grants at the same time, you need to choose different topics for each project, so that there is no overlap of activities and thus no overlap of funding. One specific activity can be funded from only one budget.

"Hello, thank you for the clear presentations. However, the information is directed to full-time study. As mentioned, the condition for applying for a grant within IGA MU is full-time study, as well as for participation in the PhD talent Brno competition. I started a combined study at the clinic, what are the possibilities of support/participation in grants for students in combined programs? Thank you. "

Hello, Thank you for your question. According to the conditions announced by the organizer of the Brno PhD Talent competition, applications can be submitted by students in the full-time form of study. More information about the competition can be found at https://www.jcmm.cz/projekt/brno_phd_talent_2020_en.

The scheme where it is not necessary for the applicant to have a PhD degree or to study in the full-time form of study is, for example, the Erasmus + program. These are educational projects implemented in cooperation with international teams. You can get more detailed information at https://ec.europa.eu/programmes/erasmus-plus/node_en or https://www.naerasmusplus.cz/ (in CZ only) or from the staff of the Office for Development and Project Support FoM MU.

"Hello, I have already read some instructions for PhD study, but I'm still not sure if the „presentation of the original data at an international conference" "means presenting the data with a poster or lecture and in what language this presentation is to take place."

"Hello, thank you for your question. Recognition of the form of presentation at international conferences is always in the competence of the Chair of the the Doctoral Board or Doctoral Committe. It is, therefore, necessary to take into account the usual practice in the field of study. Of course, an oral presentation in the communication language of a specific conference is desirable. If you need to add information, do not hesitate to contact the Office for Qualifying Development."

"Hello, I have another question about grant support. Apart from the IGA MU grant support competition, I did not find many grants that PhD students can apply for. It is almost always necessary to have a PhD degree. Are there some others that I could apply for? "
