With the beginning of the new academic year, the Doctoral Studies handbook at the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University is published. The handbook is intended for those interested in doctoral studies, doctoral students, their supervisors, doctoral boards and doctoral committees and all other actors entering doctoral studies at our faculty.
The almost 80-page, interactive online brochure aims to be a kind of "cookbook" of doctoral studies at the faculty, which describes from the perspective of individual actors their particular roles, responsibilities and competencies. In one document, it combines practical information, important dates, documents, the most common processes, necessary actions and agendas, and last but not least, available support. The main motivation for its creation was to facilitate orientation in individual roles throughout the study, from the very beginning to successful graduation.
The publication also corresponds to the efforts of the Faculty of Medicine to obtain the prestigious European HR Excellence in Research Award certificate, launched in 2019, as doctoral students, supervisors and members of doctoral boards and committees participated in the preparation and brought the required view of individual key "players".
We believe that the doctoral study manual will fulfil the desired purpose, facilitate the work of supervisors, chairs and members of doctoral boards and doctoral committees and that it will support doctoral students on their path to the first academic degree, the PhD.

To operate effectively, the faculty needs capable and motivated staff, which is why recruitment is one of its key personnel priorities. We systematically focus on recruitment at the MU Faculty of Medicine and have been tracking key data regularly since 2021. How did we perform in the past year? Here is a summary of the most interesting findings.
