Led by industry experts, SPARK The Midlands has organised a series of lectures and workshops called SPARK Studio to promote innovation in healthcare technology in the region.
Theresa Jeary, with a Master’s in Pharmaceutical Science from the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland, has over 30 years of experience working in the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device industries. Theresa has over 14 years Notified Body experience, having worked for both LRQA where she held the role of Head of Notified Body and BSI, working as a technical specialist in the Medicinal and Biologics Team.Â
Theresa is a regular presenter on MDR Implementation, Combination products and Article 117 and regularly contributes to various scientific publications and regulatory guidance and has extensive experience of interacting with EU Competent Authorities.

A team of scientists led by the head of the research group at the Department of Biology, Nicola Silva, has made a significant achievement in research into the reduced or impaired function of the Synaptonemal complex, which may be one of the causes of sterility. The paper by an international team of authors was published in the prestigious scientific journal Nature Communications in March 2025.
