Join us on 9 April 2024 at 8 a.m. in the University Campus Library for our next captivating Research Breakfast featuring Zdenek Andrysik, an accomplished researcher, as he shares insights into his postdoc and early career in the US, picking a lab, life in the US, US funding opportunities and answers your questions arising from the discussion.
Beginning with a Master's in Animal Physiology at Masaryk University and progressing to a Ph.D. under the mentorship of Prof. Alois Kozubik, Zdenek Andrysik's academic journey led him through transformative postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Cincinnati and the University of Colorado at Boulder, working alongside Prof. Peter J. Stambrook and Prof. Joaquin M. Espinosa. His path came full circle upon returning to Masaryk University, where he founded the InGA Junior Research Group at the Department of Biology.

A team of scientists led by the head of the research group at the Department of Biology, Nicola Silva, has made a significant achievement in research into the reduced or impaired function of the Synaptonemal complex, which may be one of the causes of sterility. The paper by an international team of authors was published in the prestigious scientific journal Nature Communications in March 2025.
