Research Infrastructure
The Faculty of Medicine has its own excellent infrastructure. In particular, it is the ACIU certified clean premises for the production of hepatocellular medicinal drugs (Advanced Cell Immunotherapy Unit) approved by a national authority (State Institute for Drug Control), which enabled the implementation of unique clinical studies with the use of patients’ dendric cells in paediatric oncology (in collaboration with University Hospital Brno) and others in the field of diabetology and treatment of bullous dermatitis. Furthermore, CZECRIN – the Czech National Node of the European Network of Clinical Research Infrastructures, national coordinator of the ECRIN European network for support of clinical studies, thanks to which FM MU organises numerous academic clinical studies of external sponsors, is based at FM MU, which makes introducing new medical procedures into clinical practice possible. Last but not least, the FM MU operates its own Laboratory Animal Breeding and Experimental Facility, accredited for working with GMO animals. For internal and external scientific research purposes, transgenic strains and typical mouse colonies are bred here for basic and applied research. The Medicinal Herbs Centre is a unique botanic garden of the FM MU, which focuses on the non-commercial cultivation of medicinal herbs for scientific and research purposes.
Who do we cooperate with?
In the field of research and development, there is intensive cooperation with internal and external partners within the Brno research area, especially with the Faculty of Science MU, CEITEC MU, University Hospital Brno, St. Anne’s University Hospital (including ICRC), Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (e.g., Institute of Biophysics, Institute of Scientific Instruments, Institute of Psychology) and others.
