On 4 November 2025, a regular networking meeting of organisations and services that support people experiencing homelessness in Brno took place. The purpose of these meetings is to connect individual social services, share information about capacities and care options, and jointly find solutions for specific client situations.
The Medici na ulici association attends these meetings regularly, primarily to share information about nursing capabilities and developments from the field. Our role is rather supplementary — we do not act as a primary social service, but we provide support where medical intervention is needed, for example, by encouraging clients to undergo examinations or coordinating visits to doctors.
At the most recent meeting, we were involved in consulting on specific client cases where social workers were seeking possibilities for medical support for people with limited mobility or acute health problems. We also discussed cooperation with physicians who are preparing an overview of non-medical social service options for surgeons so they can better refer their patients.
Mgr. Tereza Chvojková from Práh jižní Morava, head of the Field Housing Support Team, organises these meetings. For us, this form of cooperation is important. Hence, we stay informed about the needs and possibilities for people experiencing homelessness and can respond appropriately with medical support where it is most needed.
