At the end of April, the re-elected rector of Masaryk University, Martin Bareš, announced changes to two Vice-Rector positions. He appointed the former Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Jana Fialová, as Vice-Rector for Students and External Relations, and after the current AS MU discussion. The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Martin Repko, thus entrusted Professor Eva Brichtová with the issue of student affairs, pending discussion at the level of the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Medicine.

Every year on 12 May we commemorate International Nurses' Day. At the Faculty of Medicine MU we, of course, cannot forget them!

On Friday, 5th May 2023, the World Hand Hygiene Day event was held at the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University. The organisers were pleased with the interest in protecting their own and public health through good hand hygiene. They were pleasantly surprised how many people decided to come despite the circumstance of a long weekend and upcoming exams.

One valid proposal for the position of Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University was submitted by the deadline for submission of proposals on 2 May 2023 at noon. The only candidate for the tenure from 1 November 2023 to 31 October 2027 is Prof. MUDr. Martin Repko, Ph.D.

Jana Fialová, who is ending her term as Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and External Relations at FM MU, has been appointed Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and External Relations since 1st May. The new concept of the structure of the Vice-Rectorial team, including the Vice-Rectorial portfolios, was announced by Rector Martin Bareš, who was elected to a second term as Rector of Masaryk University at the beginning of April.

There are at least four basic categories of leukaemias, but in reality they are divided into a number of subtypes according to different characteristics. They are differentiated by the types of white blood cells affected, the behaviour of the disease and also, for example, gene mutations, which can serve as factors determining prognosis and the choice of the ideal therapeutic treatment. Accurate diagnosis can be time, cost and personnel intensive. At the University Hospital Brno, they have started using the LYNX analytical tool, which is able to detect diagnostic, prognostic and predictive markers for the most common lymphoid malignancies, which affect more than two thousand people a year in the Czech Republic.

The last week of April each year is dedicated to vaccination awareness through World Immunisation Week (World Vaccination Week). The aim is to raise awareness of the importance of vaccination for the health of individuals and society as a whole.

The Business Research Forum, a fair of opportunities for cooperation between Masaryk University and the application sector, took place for the fifth time in the atrium of CEITEC. For the second time, it also included the presentation of the MUNI Innovation Award for exceptional innovative achievements that have been successfully implemented in practice, have helped to improve products or services, or have otherwise contributed to increasing the social relevance of Masaryk University's research activities.

The Medical Students' Association of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University has received a unique opportunity to organize a concert in support of the construction of a memorial to body donors to be built at the Central Cemetery in Brno. Every year, the Faculty pays tribute to the body donors by holding a commemorative meeting during the Souls' Day period, but we want to build a dignified place where the bereaved can come to honour the memory of their dead. The concert will feature one of the finest violinists of his generation, the young Czech violinist Josef Špaček, accompanied by the Collegium musicum chamber orchestra conducted by Filip Urban.
