In its largest grant competition, the Czech Science Foundation will support 357 new projects in all areas of basic research. These projects will receive CZK 2.75 billion over the next three years.
In the highly competitive competition, a total of 6 projects from applicants from the FM MU were supported for 2024. This year, only about one-fifth of the best proposals succeeded. According to the President of the Foundation, only top scientists will be supported.
FM MU as principal investigator:
- Lukáš Čajánek (Department of Histology and Embryology): Understanding the formation and function of primary cilia through novel mechanisms
- Dáša Bohačiaková (Department of Histology and Embryology): Alzheimer's Disease Atlas: Mapping the development of dementia in cerebral organoids using single-cell transcriptomics
FM MU as co-investigator:
- Dáša Bohačiaková (Department of Histology and Embryology), Principal Investigator Zdeněk Hodný (Institute of Molecular Genetics of the CAS): Development of brain organoid models to study the role of cellular senescence in glioblastoma pathogenesis
- Tomáš Bárta (Department of Histology and Embryology), Principal Investigator Petra Lišková (1st FM, Charles University): Investigation of molecular causes of anterior segment dysgenesis using advanced sequencing methods and organoids
- Aleš Hampl (Department of Histology and Embryology), Principal Investigator Pavel Mikuška (Institute of Analytical Chemistry of the CAS): Effect of metal nanoparticles on lung tissues and cellular processes contributing to their efflux from these tissues
- Tereza Váňová (Department of Histology and Embryology), Principal Investigator Lukáš Valihrach (Institute of Biotechnology, CAS): Humanized organoid-based platform for stroke modeling and mRNA-based therapeutic interventions
Big congratulations to all successful applicants!
