Description Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder characterized by four distinct clinical stages predominantly affecting the central area of the face. Rosacea affects mostly adults over the age of 30, with a higher incidence in women. We categorized pathological mechanisms of rosacea in innate immunity, vascular changes, reactive oxygen species, ultra violet radiation and microbes. The newly discovered role of cathelicidin in promotion of inflammation in rosacea creates exciting questions about the origins of rosacea.
