| Description | Diuretics are still one of the basic pharmacological groups in the treatment of hypertension. Despite the decline in the use of diuretics, which has been given in recent years by the introduction of new antihypertensive drugs into medical practice, diuretics remain the cornerstone of treatment for hypertension. Decrease the use of diuretics also caused their adverse effect on the metabolic component participating in the process of atherogenesis (insulin resistance, blood glucose levels, blood lipids, activation of the renin - angiotensin). Indapamide belongs to a class of diuretics with minimized diuretic effect and a more pronounced antihypertensive effect than conventional thiazides diuretics with weaker influence of glucose metabolism and blood lipids. |
