Description An autopsy technician, or also an autopsy technician - praeparator, has been an irreplaceable profession in the forensic medical practice since the 1970s. A skilled laboratory assistant is a helping hand for both forensic practitioners and other forensic workers. His work includes the implementation of special autopsy and preparatory techniques during autopsy, skiagraphic examinations, reconstruction and osteopreparation techniques for identification purposes, casting methods, photographic documentation, care of museum teaching collections, improvement of preparation and preservation methods. Last but not least is the teaching and publishing activity. Our contribution briefly introduces the craftmanship and presents some preparatory techniques usable in forensic practice.
