Description Diseases of the temporomandibular joint and its various dysfunctions and malfunctions are of interest to several medical disciplines, e.g. stomatology/orthodontics, otolaryngology, neurology, and rheumatology as well as to manual medicine. This article attempts to summarize the knowledge gathered so far by various disciplines on this much-discussed topic. Understanding temporomandibular dysfunction, and how to correct it, enhances the possibility of successful management of such frequent ailments as headache, dizziness, tinnitus and some hearing disturbances.
