Description Ecstasy is very commonly abused drug and it is known to cause behavioural sensitization to its stimulating effects in rodents after repeated adminitration. This experiment was designed to find and evaluate possible gender differences in development and expression of behavioural sensitization in mice using repeated open-field tests in 21 days. There were three groups of animals used: males and bilaterally ovariectomized females with and without natural estrogen substitution. Both female froup were significantly more active than male group. Tendency to develop behavioural sensitization was shown only in females with hormonal substitution.
