Description Multiple myeloma (MM) is hematological malignancy with incidence of 4 cases per 100 000 inhabitants. MM is usually diagnosed in seniors with average age 67.5 years at the time of diagnosis. Autologous transplantation used in the Czech Republic since 1990s has proven significant benefit on long-term survival in patients of age under 60 years. This benefit is detectable also in analysis of data of National Cancer Registry (NCR). However, NCR database can be used in current structure for similar analyses only with several limitations. Full set of required data, systematic work and compatibility with other specialized registries are key factors influencing the added value of NCR as analytic tool in the hand of the experts.
