Description Objectives: Detection of galactomannan (GM) by Platelia Aspergillus assay is widely used for early diagnosis of invasive aspergillosis (IA). One of the main disadvantages of this test are false positive results that might be caused by many factors (administration of antibiotics, gluconate-containing solutions etc.). To be able to recognise false positive results in short time is of a great medical interest. One of the possibilities is to confirm the detection of GM by detection of other “panfungal” antigen – 1,3-beta-D-glucan (BG) – in the sample.
