Description Smoking is the major single preventable risk factor of the chronic morbidity and premature mortality. Also the exposure of non-smokers is very important health risk. Up-to-date, the smoking is known ethiologic determinant for 25 serious diseases and worldwide kills more than 5 milions people annually. The special interest is concerned about nicotine, which is potent addictive drug, neuroteratogen, contributes to the initiation and progreesion of cancer and is involved into the pathways of cardiovascular diseases by many ways. Reduction of the smoking epidemy can be done both by the primary prevention among children and adolescents, and by smoking cessation.
