Description In conjunction with the trend of population aging in the Czech Republic becomes the age related macular degeneration a significant problem. Terminal stages of the disease in most cases leads to a very low visual acuity and practical blindness, and that represents significant socioeconomic problem. According to latest data it is affected up to 30% of patients older than 75 years. Efforts of all therapeutic procedures, the boom we have experienced the last 25 years, is to provide our patients affected by age related macular degeneration usable visual acuity for the long time.
