Description Brain metastases are a common complication of systemic neoplastic disease. Verification of intracranial lesions etiology is essential for target oncology therapy. Neoplastic duplicities and nonneoplastic etiology of brain lesions have been found in about 11 % of onkology patients. The basis for properly chosen therapy remains a neurosurgical operation with verification of brain lesion histology. Recent possibilities of stereotactic neurosurgery (frame-based, frame-less) enable a careful diagnosis mainly in patients with deep brain lesions unsuitable for surgical resection or high-risk patients.
