How was the year 2021 in research and development at our faculty?

Together, we managed to succeed in many fields in 2021:

  • 62 submitted AZV projects

    A record number of applications were submitted to the Czech health research council:

    • 42 projects from the position of FM MU being the principal investigator
    • 20 projects with FM MU as a co-investigator
  • 110 milions for AZV projects

    A total of 18 projects were supported in the 2020 competition, with a total of 110 114 000 CZK allocated.

    In 2019, 11 projects and in 2018 6 AZV projects were supported respectively.

  • 57 publications supported from resources of the Publication fund

    The Fund for Support of Excellent Publications supported 57 publications by first or corresponding authors from FM MU, classified in the Q1 and Q2 categories of Web of Science for a total of 3,215,000 CZK.

  • 468 articles in journals with impact factor

    468 articles were published in a journal with impact factor.

  • 3 publications with highest evaluation in Module 1

    3 results from FM MU authors received the highest possible evaluation in Module 1.

  • 2 new InGA FM Schemes

    Internal grant agency FM MU grew by two new schemes:

    • LF Accelerate to support applied research (3 projects supported in total)
    • Postdoc to attract promising junior researchers
  • 5 new research groups

    At the Department of Histology and Embryology, 5 new research groups were created.

    In total, there are 18 research groups at the FM MU.

  • 32 new associate professors and professors

    In 15 areas of proceedings, the following were appointed:

    • 20 new associate professors
    • 12 new professors
  • Results of applied research

    • 2 trademarks
    • 1 European patent
    • 1 licence agreement
  • Prestigious international grants

    A project application has been submitted to the prestigious international scheme Horizon Europe, Teaming for Excellence. The CREATIC project has been selected together with 31 other proposals (out of 116) for the second round. In the Czech Republic, 4 project applications were advanced, 2 of them from MU (FM MU and CEITEC).

    Academics from the FM MU have participated in dozens of international projects from Horizon 2020, NIH, Wellcome Trust, Erasmus+, Interreg, etc.

  • What awaits us in the year 2022?

    The biggest challenge this year will be the first faculty-wide and university-wide evaluation of science, research and doctoral studies. All theoretical and clinical departments and all doctoral programmes will undergo internal evaluation.
