Calls for 2027 announced

The Czech Science Foundation (GA ČR) has announced calls for the submission of project proposals under the Standard and International Projects, Postdoc Individual Fellowship, and Return Grants schemes.

The EXPRO and Junior Star calls were launched on 4 March 2026 - more information below.

❗ For this year’s calls, the rules on concurrent submission and implementation of new projects have been revised compared with previous rounds.

🛠 Proposal preparation

• If you are interested in submitting a project, please contact Radomíra Gromešová - she will provide all necessary information, including contacts for the project manager and HR representative.
• Colleagues will continuously check projects directly in GRIS, so we ask you to assign the role of administrator to the user "podporaLFMU" (GRIS - in the lower part of the home page of the created project, list the user "podporaLFMU" among Users and assign him the role "Project Administrator").

• 4 March 2026 - Seminar with the president of GA ČR – registration here
• 27 February 2026 - Internal MU seminar for researchers - registration here

⏰ The faculty deadline

• 27 March 2026 - for formal project review and approval by the Faculty management

⚖ Ethics Board

• 9 March 2026, 12:00 - necessary documents for the Ethics Board via ISEP application. If necessary, contact your project manager.

GA ČR EXPRO 2027

A prestigious EXPRO 2027 call has been announced, aimed at internationally recognized scientists with outstanding research achievements.

• Support for excellent basic research, with the obligation to submit an ERC grant proposal at the end of the project
• Maximum funding: CZK 50 million for 5 years of implementation
• Minimum workload for both the principal investigator and key collaborators: 0.5 FTE
• The entire proposal must be submitted exclusively in English

📆 Deadline

• If you are interested in submitting a project, please contact Radomíra Gromešová as soon as possible.
• Review Board: Completed project plan should be sent by 21 March to vrablikova@med.muni.cz. The RB meeting will take place on 26 March 2026.
• Ethics Committee: Materials should be submitted via ISEP by 30 March 2026.
• Internal deadline for the Faculty of Medicine: 15 April 2026.

GA ČR JUNIOR STAR 2027

• Eligibility: Researchers who were awarded their Ph.D. no more than 8 years ago (30 September 2018 or later)
• Experience: Significant international experience and publications in prestigious journals are required
• Parameters: 5-year projects with a total funding of up to CZK 25 million
• Workload: The minimum workload of the principal investigator is set at 0.5 FTE
