The InGA Start-up and Accelerate have their winners
The Internal Grant Agency of the Faculty of Medicine has announced the results of the Start-up and Accelerate call, with projects starting on 1 January 2026.

The faculty submitted a total of 258 new project applications.
99 new projects of internal, national and international schemes were launched.
54 applications were submitted to the Czech Health Research Council.
A total of 15 projects were supported by the Czech Health Research council, with 102 million CZK allocated (principal investigator projects).
Academics from LF MU have been involved in dozens of international projects under Horizon Europe, Horizon 2020, NIH, Wellcome Trust, Erasmus+, Interreg, etc.
Adam Williamson from the International Centre for Clinical Research at LF MU and FNUSA was awarded the Faculty's first ERC Proof of Concept grant. He will use his support to translate the results of his sleep apnoea research into practice. His matchbox-sized device has the ambition to improve the treatment of this widespread condition. This is the fifth ERC grant for the young scientist.

In 2024, the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic will support 7 projects of applicants from FM MU.
Our Internal Grant Agency supported a total of 19 new projects:
Martina Kratochvílová succeeded in the MU Career Restart Grant Agency's call to support the return to a scientific career after a break caused by, e.g. parental leave. She also received the prestigious Martina Roesel Memorial Grant awarded by IOCB Tech Endowment Fund.
The Fund for Support of Excellent Publications supported 73 publications by first or corresponding authors from FM MU, classified in the Q1 and Q2 categories of Web of Science for a total of 5 800 000 CZK.
666 articles were published in a journal with impact factor:

results from FM MU authors received the highest possible evaluation in Module 1.
At the Department of Biology, Department of Pharmacology and Department of Biochemistry, 3 new research groups were established.
In total, there are 29 research groups established at the FM MU.
In 5 areas, the following were appointed:
There were 62 new Ph.D. graduates in 15 Doctoral degree programmes.
Year 2024 brought significant steps, especially in strengthening internal communication, training and security measures. A detailed overview of the activities implemented is available here. At the end of 2024, the Faculty was in the middle of the second implementation period of the Revised HR Award Action Plan.
