Integral part of our living environment are the electromagnetic fields. There are studies describing correlation between low-frequency electromagnetic fields and risk of cancer or leukaemia. Until now the mechanism explaining effects of magnetic fields o n organisms is not known. Our project should be a contribution to a discussion about that problem. We will explore behaviour of gramnegative bacteria Escherichia coli in electromagnetic field. As our preliminary results showed, the alternating magnetic f ield with amplitude less than 20 mT and frequency 50 Hz influenced the behaviour of E.coli. We will continue in our experiments and observe the viability of bacteria, their morphology, their ability to bind a bacteriophage, their metabolism and further b iological qualities. We will use an electrochemistry and E.coli modified electrodes. The advantage of our system studied is that we explore cells in vivo because bacteria are an one-cell organism. We observe how the magnetic field affects cells and on th
