Description Multimorbidity in old age as results in clinical practice, is often result of polypharmacotherapy. That - though often necessary - usually in old age often risky because elders are generally more vulnerable. Narrows the therapeutic range, decreasing compliance, increasing interindividual variability effect and increases the risk of drug interactions. The basic requirement for pharmacotherapy in old age is the simplicity, effectiveness and efficiency. Polypharmacy in the elderly can often be risky and ineffective, often also harmful. In geriatric medicine generally prevails symptomatic treatment of causal. Its side effects may significantly alterovat clinical picture of disease.
