Description Objectives: The study analysed symptoms and therapy in children with congenital toxoplasmosis. Methods: Of 67 children born from 66 mothers managed in our department for an acute maternal infection between January 1997 and December 2012. 23 newborns were eligible in our study.They had proven congenital toxoplasmosis and had been followed up for at least today. Results: 44 children were asymptomatic.5 infants had only eye lesion. In 18 children except ocular involvement in the form of chorioretinitis is evident neurological sequels. Conclusions: Prenatal screening and treatment to the pregnant mother failed to prevent transmission of Toxoplasma gondii from mother to the child.Some children were infected also due to insuficcient treatment of their mothers during pregnancy.
