Description Any critical illness leads to a predominance of catabolic processes in the patient and to a rapid loss of muscle mass in particular. This is a key factor in the development of critically ill weakness, which leads to many serious complications. The aim of nutrition is to create conditions for anabolic and reparative processes, and thus mitigate the consequences of catabolic processes.
